Floored, Pt 3

August 18, 2013

After discovering the beauty of WD40 as a cutting fluid, the fine trimming of the floor was much simpler – a couple of sections couldn’t be trimmed in situ but, 5 minutes work aside – the floor is now ready to be drilled and fitted.

Almost as good at destroying the feeling in my fingers as it was at removing paint from the aluminium sheeting!

Some online research has yielded suggestions for ‘make-your-own’ paintstripper and a chance discovery in Aldi yielded a angle grinder mounted wirebrush and some grinding flap discs. Brutal, and hand joint destroying in its vibration, but effective at cleaning up metal!

Attempts to buy paint for brake calipers was foiled by the local motor factors, I may just do a bulk order from Frost.co.uk when I buy the paint for the chassis, but I still can’t decide which paint system to use for the chassis…

Another ‘welding day’ is set – 9th September….
